Victoria Park Lantern Festival

Re-Ignite the Light, Saturday, July 29th, 2017

Rain date of July 30th, 2017

After an absence in 2016, the Friends of Victoria Park are excited to announce the return of the Lantern Festival on Saturday, July 29th, 2017 with a theme of “Reignite the Light.”

Starting at 2 pm in the beautiful, historic downtown Victoria Park the event will include local musical entertainment, face painting, a kid’s game zone, a lantern jar making tent, the Neighbourhood Strays belly dancers and other special guests. At dusk, the Scruncheons Percussion Ensemble will lead a parade to the upper park area, where festival-goers will see an incredible lantern display and enjoy a spectacular fire and light show which will include fire jugglers, fire dancers, fire swallowers and – for the first time – aerial acrobats and other amazing performers.

Performers for this show include the St. John’s Juggling Club, Cirque’letics, the Spinsters and Wonderbolt Circus. This year’s show promises to be bigger and brighter than ever before!

Admission to the Lantern Festival is FREE, although donations are encouraged and always accepted. Canteen service as well as BBQ, snow cones, popcorn and cotton candy will be available from 2 pm to 8 pm in the lower park.

In anticipation of the Victoria Park Lantern Festival on Saturday, July 29th, there will be workshops at the Victoria Park Poolhouse every Tuesday and Thursday evening until July 27th from 6:00 to 8:30 pm. All lantern building materials are provided. Donations accepted. Come by yourself, or with family and friends to create and build your own special lantern.
