Safe for the Kids

Balloon lanterns require no hot glue and no wiring. They are a great choice for kids, but still require focus and time to complete. You should give yourself three evening workshops to complete a balloon as drying time between layers is crucial.

The balloon is used as the form. Small pieces of tissue paper are then glued to the balloon form in the same fashion as if you were doing paper machée. At least three layers of tissue paper are a needed to form a nice solid structure for the light when the balloon is popped and removed.

Balloon lantern makers create beautiful designs using the colour of the tissue paper and the natural shape of the balloon.
