Please volunteer

We rely on the support of volunteers to make wonderful things happen in Victoria Park. If you would like to get involved please email the lantern festival steering committee committee at lanternfest@gmail.com.

We really need volunteers before, during and after the festival. There are many ways people can help and many levels at which to lend a hand. Here are a few key areas:

Before the Festival

  • Leads for lantern-making workshops (we train you)
  • Assistants for lantern-making workshops (we train you)
  • Workshop materials cleaning and preparation
  • Glass jar lantern-making
  • Lantern repairs

During the Festival

After the Festival

  • Lantern installation take down
  • Pool House clean-up
  • 2012 planning – building new lanterns in peace, fund raising, volunteer recruitment, fixing up the pool house, etc.
  • Lantern Builders Union (Local 709)

    Join the Lantern Builders Union (LBU Local 709)! We’re a group of dedicated and creative lantern builders who build installation lanterns for the Victoria Park Lantern Festival, participate in building bees for promotional and fundraising projects, and keep the light of the festival glowing!
